Our Green Spaces, Our Stories:
A Celebration of the Day Avenue Pocket Park & Old Southwest’s Urban Green Spaces through Art & Creative Writing
During 2024 OSW Inc., in partnership with a team of local artists, released a professionally-bound journal of art and creative writing that documents the neighborhood’s collective accomplishments in creating the Day Avenue Pocket Park ... and aimed to capture the joy, beauty, inspiration, and importance of all urban green spaces that support personal wellbeing, native plants, environmentally-friendly gardening methods, pollinators, and wildlife. More than twenty neighbors and friends contributed to the book, which was curated by a selections committee of talented OSW neighbors. Today, the finished publication stands as a testament to Old Southwest’s spirit of collaboration, creativity, and sustainability. We invite you to enjoy and be inspired!
Our Green Spaces, Our Stories was a collaborative effort between Old Southwest, Inc. and a team of local creatives: Ashley Wilson Fellers, Ana Morales, and Rolando Holmes. "Our Green Spaces" was provided through the Arts Connect Neighbors program with funding from the City of Roanoke and National Endowment for the Arts.
