This year’s PorchFest coincides with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Day Avenue Pocket Park — an Old Southwest, Inc. project that began in 2021, earned a Neighborhood Improvement Award from the City of Roanoke in 2023, and has been an ongoing neighborhood project supported 100% by volunteers. The park very intentionally features native plants to attract and support pollinators and urban wildlife.

PorchFest is more than just music. It’s a full day of family-friendly fun featuring:

• Local food trucks

• Plein air artists painting in the park

• A lantern-making workshop (ahead of our upcoming lantern parade!)

• Interactive art activities

• Native plant education and ID

• An art raffle supporting the Old Southwest Mural Project

And of course, AFOG Brewing will be your go-to watering hole nearby.
