Mark Hostetter
President
I lived in South Florida for 40 years and met my wife Kathi there. We wanted to get away from the hurricanes, as well as the hustle and bustle of over 1 million people in Palm Beach County. We looked in Durham, Asheville, Lynchburg, and Roanoke and fell in love with historic houses and OSW. When growing up, I visited my grandparents farm in Kerrs Creek, VA during the summers until their passing in 1980, and those memories made Roanoke top on the list. I wanted four seasons and beautiful scenery! We purchased our home on Day Avenue in Roanoke in December 2006, after a year of scouting for the right place. We love being close to Downtown and love the diversity, vibe, and passion for OSW that many of us share. This is my second time, serving as OSW, Inc. president, after a two-year break. I am dedicated to being a part of making OSW the great place that it is. As for other interests…I have dabbled in woodworking, metalworking, and gardening —I had 40 rose bushes and 120+ orchids in South Florida. But I really love working with stained glass and fused glass in a kiln. I find it amazing what you can do with something so fragile and yet so beautiful (I really need to get my workshop set up again). My last house had a glass studio setup, complete with kiln and a self-built glass cutting light table. If you see Kathi and me sitting out on our porch at 544 Day in the late afternoon/evening (which we do often), don’t hesitate to stop by for a chat. We love to catch up with old friends and make new ones!
