Though originally from Morgantown, West Virginia (Let’s Go Mountaineers!), I’m a Baltimore transplant to Roanoke. A few years ago, my husband Dan and I decided we were tired of just vacationing in the mountains. We set out to find “the best” mountain town where we could live permanently and start a family. However, we were not ready to give up all of city life! Roanoke fit the bill, with ample access to the outdoors, along with a vibrant downtown. In the summer of 2017, on the way to the center of the lunar eclipse, and hoping to get a feel for life in Roanoke, we coincidently stayed in now fellow OSW board member Elaine Fleck’s Air B&B. The rest is history! We fell in love with all that Old Southwest has to offer and bought our home on Day Avenue in 2018. With the birth of our second son in 2021, I became a full-time stay-at-home mom, giving us more flexibility to enjoy all that Roanoke has to offer. My background is in biology; so if anyone ever wants to get into some nerdy science talk, I’m all ears! I enjoy running, hiking, tubing the Roanoke River and trying all the local craft brews!
