Old Southwest, Inc. is excited to present Old Southwest PorchFest: a celebration created to bring our community together through live music.
Sponsored by AFOG Brewing, PorchFest is held just blocks from their brewery. Stages include two residential front porches on Marshall and Day Aves, near 8th St SW, featuring 13 different local musicians and musical styles.
This year’s PorchFest coincides with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Day Avenue Pocket Park — an Old Southwest, Inc. project that began in 2021, earned a Neighborhood Improvement Award from the City of Roanoke in 2023, and has been an ongoing neighborhood project supported 100% by volunteers. The park very intentionally features native plants to attract and support pollinators and urban wildlife.
PorchFest is more than just music. It’s a full day of family-friendly fun featuring:
Local food trucks
Plein air artists painting in the park
A lantern-making workshop (ahead of our upcoming lantern parade!)
Interactive art activities
Native plant education and ID
An art raffle supporting the Old Southwest Mural Project
And of course, AFOG Brewing will be your go-to watering hole nearby.
Join us to experience the charm of Old Southwest, connect with neighbors, support Roanoke’s vibrant local music scene, and discover what makes our urban community so special.
Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the perfect front porch music experience. We can’t wait to see you there!
