Roanoke is my hometown. I grew up in a big old house in Raleigh Court and attended Roanoke City Schools. After college I trained as a Medical Technologist and worked in the laboratory medicine field for both Carilion and the American Red Cross until retiring in 2017. I have lived in Old Southwest since 1985 and have owned two OSW houses. My first house on Fourth Street was built in the backyard of the bigger house I live in now on Washington Avenue! My sister Mary Jo moved back to Roanoke after retiring and now rents the apartment in my house. This makes it very convenient for the two of us to enjoy all sorts of adventures together—both in and around Roanoke and to more far-away places. I think Old Southwest is a great neighborhood. I value its diversity, architecture, and our wonderful Highland Park. I love to paint, travel, garden, and take long walks.
